I came into this world on October 28th, 1961 in Coffeyville, Kansas, USA. Coffeyville is where the infamous Dalton Gang met their end. Interestingly, descendents of one of the members of the Dalton Gang were among my work colleagues at Intel Corp! I graduated with the "Class of '78" from Peoria High School, Peoria, Arizona, USA. I was conferred an Associate in Arts degree by the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies by Thomas Edison State University. I was granted the Amateur Radio call sign "K6EKB" in 1998. On February 18th, 2017 I changed my call sign to "N7EKB". I speak fluent German & English, some Russian and some Spanish. I worked for 30+ years as a Software Engineer for Intel Corporation. I retired from Intel on December 31st, 2016 when the Intel DuPont, Washington site closed. I retired as an Army Warrant Officer (CW3) after 26 years of active and reserve duty in both the US Navy and US Army spanning a period of 40 years. I acquired my WA Class A Commercial Driver's license in July 2021 and am now a truck driver for JB Hunt. I'm happily married to Susanne Braaten. Between us, we have six children and six grandchildren. Among my hobbies past and present are: long-distance motorcycle touring, sailing, Amateur Radio, EMCOMM, camping, hiking, target practice, and playing the acoustic guitar. I'm a charter member of the Granite Dome "Hard Landing Club". I'm a member of the Yelm Amateur Radio Group. If you call me "Mr. Ed" then you have to sing Mr. Ed's Theme Song! :-)
